Our tours are based out of Château de Fayolle, a beautiful property on the edge of Saussignac, a small village in the heart of of South-West France. During our week together, we visit some of the region's most beautiful châteaux and gardens, share some gastronomic experiences, which include dining at two Michelin Star restaurants and an evening at a local restaurant renowned for their duck dishes. We also have dinner one evening at your host's home in one wing of Château de Saussignac.
The 'gastro' experience continues with a wine and food pairing lunch at one of Saussignac's local vineyards. Another highlight includes a day trip to the famous village of Saint Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the first vineyard was planted over 900 years ago and the Knights Templar had their headquarters. After lunch at the restaurant of a Grand Cru Classé winery, we'll visit another two Grand Cru Classé estates for wine tastings.
Guests with an artistic flair also have the opportunity to enjoy an 'Afternoon with an Artist', where a local expat painter shares his knowledge and skills in a customised art class.
Day 1, Saturday 18th May 2019
Afternoon: Arrive (Bergerac airport or train station)
Evening: Welcome drinks followed by dinner at Le Café 1500 in Saussignac
Day 2, Sunday 19th May 2019
Morning: Visit Le Manior & Jardins d'Eyrignac, followed by lunch at their restaurant
Afternoon: Visit Château & Jardins de Losse
Evening: Dinner at our château
Day 3, Monday 20th May 2019
Morning: Food & Wine Pairing lunch and Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé wine tasting and education class
Afternoon: As above
Evening: Dinner at Les Fresques, the Michelin Star restaruant at Château des Vigiers
Day 4, Tuesday 21st May 2019
Morning: Visit Château de Fenelon
Afternoon: Lakeside picnic at our château followed by pétanque (weather permitting). Those with an artistic flair can have a group art lesson with a local artist.
Evening: Dinner at your host's home in a wing of Château de Saussignac
Day 5, Wednesday 22nd May 2019
Morning: Saint Émilion wine tour
Afternoon: As above
Evening: Dinner at Famille Moutier (renowned for their duck dishes) in Thenac
Day 6, Thursday 23rd May 2019
Morning: Personal time
Afternoon: Lunch at Le Vieux Logis Tremolat, a Michelin star restaurant
Evening: Pool side dining in the covered al fresco pool house
Day 7, Friday 24th May 2019
Morning: Visit Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, followed by lunch at their café
Afternoon: Personal time
Evening: Farewell dinner at our château
Day 7, Saturday 25th May 2019
Morning: Guests are returned to Bergerac airport, or the Gardonne/Bergerac train stations
Breakfast, lunch and dinners (including alcohol at lunch and dinner) are included in the price.
